PACE

For week 5 and 6 of the Ironhack UX UI Bootcamp, we had the first brief from scratch, with a main theme of Wellness or Wellbeing. This project aims to use all the tools of the UX process to arrive at a definition of a problem and a possible digital solution, with a visualization based on the UI process. The result of the project was a digital application so that users can do sleep rituals and have a transition from the daily routine to a real rest.

Initial approach

The first thing before starting the process was to choose the Wellness theme with which I wanted to develop the UX project. After thinking about it and thinking about different types of problems that could arise based on this topic, I decided to focus on sleep, or rather the lack of it, and how many people in today’s society simply do not sleep well. From this point I started.

Definition of the problem

With the help of numerous more focused and specialized surveys and interviews, I was able to enter through one of the branches of my initial problem. I understood that one of the main causes why people do not rest is because they do not disconnect from their day to day, that they use their mind to its full capacity during their productive routine and when they reach their moment where the body must rest, They do not make a healthy transition between one state and another, taking all thoughts, ideas and problems to their time of sleep, and even dream about them, obviously generating a very light sleep, and a feeling of tiredness when waking up the next day, independent of the hours they have slept.

From the above, my UX process begins with its main tools:

From Lean UX, and with the previous definition of the specific problem, I was able to continue defining who I was talking to and who I really wanted to help. With an overview of foreigners who need to do immigration processes and who have problems accessing it for different reasons, I was able to start using the tools focused on the user, the User Person, Empathy Map, User Journey and Scenario, with which I could conclude that I wanted to solve and for whom, and from there, I could focus on the product as such.

Finally, thanks to the User Flow as the final tool before the Mid design of the application, it was decided which would be the main functionalities of the application. Starting with the creation of a main Sleep Ritual that the user can always keep active to have their daily Ritual, how the personalized creation of a personal Ritual, and the suggestions and recommendations by the application of different Rituals that the user can also try.

From surveys and evaluations of desire among different possible users, a conclusion was reached about the mood and feeling that the application should express, and from UI tools, how the Moodboard and the brand attributes could be designed to design the look and feel of Pace.

To promote the product, in the case of a launch, a Landing Page for the web was designed where the main functionalities of the application are explained and the user is invited to be part of the project.

The final product is an application with a very calm tone, with very night and rest colors that were tested and approved by different users, and the usability was something that worked exactly for what had been sought, there are things that Future could evolve to focus on the user’s motivation to continue to use the app constantly.

Next steps

In a future design, or in a complete development of Pace as a real application for mobile devices, some additional functionalities that are intended to complete the current project would be:

A Night History, where users can see how they are sleeping each night, and the application offers them a visualization over time to see the quality of sleep they have had and to be able to make the necessary decisions regarding that.

A record of hours of sleep, where the user can feed the History with the time they go to bed and wake up, helping to maintain a consistency is their rest and a more appropriate organization to their body.

Finally, quality assessments at night, where users can assess each morning what level of rest they feel, thus connecting with the History to generate an analysis and conclusions that demonstrate which are the best routines and Rituals of rest to have..
